Ingredients

  • 4 Tbsp Vanilla Custard Powder

  • 1/4 Cup Cold Milk

  • 2 Cups Full Fat Milk

  • 1/2 Cup Sugar

  • 250 gm Dark Chocolate

  • 250 gm White Chocolate

  • 2 Cups Whipping Cream

  • Chocolate shavings for decor (Optional)

Method

In a heavy base pan pour 2 cups of milk and let it boil.

Meanwhile, mix Custard powder into 1/4 cup of cold milk.

Add the custard mix into milk once its boiling and keep stirring, till nice thick and smooth.

Let it cool to room temperature.

Melt both chocolates separately in double boiler or over low heat in heavy base pan.

let the chocolates get cool.

Once custard is at room temperature, separate it into two separate bowls. Add cooled melted dark chocolate in to one half and melted white chocolate in another half.

Beat whipping cream till stiff peaks. Fold one half in dark chocolate and custard mix and fold other half in white chocolate and custard mix.

Layer the mousse mix alternately in serving bowl or shot glasses.

sprinkle chocolate shavings.

Chill in fridge before serving

Double Chocolate Mousse

Notes

  1. Use only vanilla flavored custard.

  2. You can alter the sugar quantity as per your taste.

  3. Do not mix hot or even warm custard and chocolates.

  4. Do not melt chocolates over high heat, as it will burn the chocolates.

  5. Chocolate can be melted in microwave in 15 sec intervals, mixing in between. 

  6. You can simply make it triple chocolate mousse by adding a layer of Milk Chocolate, just follow the steps as for other chocolate and divide custard and whipping cream into 3 equal parts before adding chocolates.

  7. The Key to best mousse is use of good quality Chocolates and whipping cream.
